Trainee Workshops

New
Trainee Workshops are a novel item on the annual SHVM meeting programme, initiated and organised by Board Member Miranda Nabben (Maastricht University).

Goal

These small group sessions bring together post-docs and students from several areas of heart and vascular metabolism to discuss state-of-the-art techniques. The aim is to create an open and interactive environment to share and discuss experiences, questions and expert knowledge.

Setup

Each topic will start with two presentations of 15 min each given by post-docs who are experienced with the specialised technique. Afterwards, there will be ample opportunity (40 min) for discussions with the participants. Prior to the workshop, participants may submit specific questions or contributions to the organiser by e-mail.

Intended for everyone!

Each Trainee Workshop is limited to 35 people but attendance is open to all SHVM 2016 registered participants, whether you are a junior or a senior researcher/clinician. Feel free to join, mingle, and share your views about one or both of the following topics:

  • In vivo MRI and MRS techniques for cardiac functional and metabolic studies in rodents
  • Measurement of metabolic fluxes in the ex vivo working mouse heart

Registration

More information on how to indicate your wish to attend the workshops is available through your mySHVM area.
Please note that there will be only 35 places for each workshop. If this number is exceeded, it will be up to the SHVM Board to make a selection; in this case, junior researchers/clinicians will be given priority over senior participants.
